Chef Commute
Same or Different? The Kitchen never stops!
Order up! In Chef Commute, you are the head waiter at a busy robot restaurant. The kitchen is sending out plates fastβbut are they what the customer ordered?
This game builds the critical skill of Comparison. Targeted at EYFS (Reception) and Year 1, it asks the fundamental question: Is this the SAME or is it DIFFERENT?
π¨βπ³ How to Play
-
ποΈ
Check the Ticket Look at the order slip swinging above. It might request "3 Apples" or a "Blue Triangle".
-
π½οΈ
Inspect the Plate The robot chef slides a plate forward. Look closely at the colour, shape, and quantity.
-
π
Judge It If it matches exactly, hit the Green Bell (Same). If it's wrong, hit the Red Trash (Different). Speed counts!
π Curriculum Focus (Early Maths)
Chef Commute supports the Early Learning Goals and Year 1 targets:
- Visual Discrimination Notice details and differences in shapes, numbers, and patterns.
- Sorting & Matching Classify objects based on specific criteria (e.g., "All red things").
- Reaction Speed Developing quick cognitive processing for basic facts.
π§ The Basis of Logic
Before a child can say "3 + 2 = 5", they must understand equivalence.
"Same" is the precursor to "Equal" (=). Asking "Is this the same as that?" builds the logical framework for all future algebra and geometry.
π¨βπ©βπ§ Tips for Parents
Odd One Out:
- Put 3 apples and 1 orange on the table. "Which one is different?"
- "Are these socks a pair? Are they the SAME?"
- Draw shapes. "I drew a circle. Did you draw the SAME shape?"
Designed for UK Reception & Year 1. Compatible with White Rose Maths "Matching & Sorting".
