Clock Command: Officer Manual
Standard Operating Procedure | Time Division
Welcome to Flight Control, Officer. Your ability to read and convert time instantly is what keeps our skies safe. Whether it's a 12-hour civilian display or a 24-hour military directive, accuracy is non-negotiable.
Mathematical Protocol
Clock Command is synchronised with the Year 4 National Curriculum for Measurement:
- Read, write and convert time between analogue and digital 12- and 24-hour clocks.
- Solve problems involving converting from hours to minutes; minutes to seconds; years to months; weeks to days.
- Read time to the nearest minute; use vocabulary such as a.m./p.m., morning, afternoon, noon and midnight.
12-Hour Ops
Uses AM (Ante Meridiem) for morning and PM (Post Meridiem) for afternoon. Note that 12 PM is Noon!
24-Hour Ops
Counts from 00:00 to 23:59.
Shift
Conversion: To get 24h from PM, add 12 to the hour (e.g., 5:00 PM = 17:00).
"Officer Tip: Look at the small hand first for the hour, then the long hand for the minutes. Every number on the clock face represents 5 minutes."
