Rocket to 100

Count Your Way to the Stars!

Prepare for liftoff! Rocket to 100 is an action-packed vertical flyer that makes counting exciting. Created for EYFS and Key Stage 1, it transforms rote counting into a high-stakes mission.

Can you steer the rocket to hit the next number in the sequence while avoiding the others? It's a test of reflexes and number recognition.

🚀 How to Play

  1. Choose Your Mission: Select a counting pattern.
    • 1s: 1, 2, 3, 4... (Great for beginners)
    • 2s, 5s, 10s: Multiples (e.g., 5, 10, 15...)
    • Backwards: 20, 19, 18... (The ultimate test!)
  2. Launch: The rocket flies upwards automatically.
  3. Steer: Move your mouse or drag your finger to guide the rocket left or right.
  4. Hit the Numbers: If you just hit '5', look for '6' (or the next number in your pattern).

📚 Curriculum Focus (Year 1)

Rocket to 100 targets the "Number and Place Value" statutory requirements:

  • Counting Count to and across 100, forwards and backwards, beginning with 0 or 1, or from any given number.
  • Multiples Count in multiples of twos, fives and tens.
  • Number Recognition Read and write numbers to 100 in numerals.

🧠 Active Learning

Counting can be repetitive. By adding a kinetic element (steering) and a visual goal (height), children stay engaged longer than they would with a static worksheet.

The "Backwards" mode is particularly powerful for building true fluency, as counting down is often much harder for children than counting up.

👨‍👩‍👧 Tips for Parents

Stairway to Maths:

  • Count steps as you walk up stairs: "1, 2, 3..."
  • Count backwards as you come down: "10, 9, 8..."
  • Try "Skip Counting" steps (jumping over one): "2, 4, 6..." (Be careful!)

Designed for UK Reception & Year 1. Compatible with White Rose Maths "Place Value".
