Measure Might
The Ultimate Lab Test!
Welcome to the laboratory! Measure Might is a comprehensive STEM game that challenges students to master the three pillars of measurement: Length, Mass, and Capacity.
Designed for Year 3 and 4, it moves beyond simple comparisons to precise reading of instruments and real-world problem solving.
🥽 Lab Modules
-
📏
Length Lab Drag the interactive ruler. Align the 0cm mark with the edge of the object to get an accurate reading.
-
⚖️
Heavy Lifters Use the balance scales. Which object makes the pan go down? That one is heavier! Can you balance the scales?
-
🧪
Capacity Crew Pour the liquid. Can you fill the beaker exactly halfway? Compare the volume of different containers.
📚 Curriculum Focus (Measurement)
Measure Might aligns with the National Curriculum for Mathematics and Science:
- Standard Units Measure, compare, add and subtract: lengths (m/cm/mm); mass (kg/g); volume/capacity (l/ml).
- Accuracy Use measuring instruments (rulers, thermometers, scales) with increasing accuracy.
- Estimation Estimate measures (e.g., "This apple is about 100g") before checking.
🧠 Interactive Learning
Measurement is a practical skill that is hard to learn from a textbook.
By digitally simulating the action of measuring—dragging a ruler, pouring liquid, watching a scale tip—this game builds the physical intuition needed for real-world science.
👨👩👧 Kitchen Scientist
Baking Academy:
- "We need 500ml of water. Check the jug markings at eye level."
- "This bag of sugar says 1kg. How many grams is that?" (1000g).
- "Let's measure your height. Stand against the wall!"
Accuracy is key in the lab!
