Decimal Dash: Race to the Finish
Compete in the Decimal Grand Prix by ordering numbers with up to three decimal places.
🏎️ About the Game
In Decimal Dash, Year 5 students practice ordering decimals in a high-stakes racing environment. Speed and accuracy are crucial to get the cars off the starting grid.
🏆 Curriculum Objectives
- Read, write, order and compare numbers with up to three decimal places.
- Solve problems describing linear number sequences involving decimals.
🎮 How to Play
- Check the Grid: 4 race cars will appear, each with a decimal number (e.g., 0.45, 0.405, 0.5, 0.045).
- Find the Lowest: Identify the car with the smallest value.
- Launch It: Click the car to send it racing down the track!
- Keep Going: Continue launching cars in ascending order until the grid is empty.
- Mistakes: If you pick the wrong car, it will stall (shake), and you'll lose time!
💡 Pit Crew Tips
Comparing decimals can be tricky! Try this strategy:
0.4 -> 0.400
0.45 ->
0.450
0.405
-> 0.405
0.045 -> 0.045
Adding placeholder zeros makes it easier to compare!
